Artesia Springs San Antonio is distributing CBD infused water

SAN ANTONIO – A local bottled water company is getting in on the CBD craze that’s sweeping the nation.

Artesia Springs has completed its testing and trial phase and is now filling orders.

Production is underway at Artesia Springs of CBD infused water.

That’s right. The oil that’s become wildly popular in lotions, and edibles has made its way to the billion dollar bottled water industry.

“There’s almost a CBD water infused company a week,” said Artesia Springs owner Rudy Ramon.

Rudy Ramon has been manufacturing bottled water on the North East side for more than 15-years.

He began to research CBD water seven months ago, and started sales and distribution soon after passage of the 2018 Farm Bill.

“We’ve gotten a very, very positive response and that’s one of the reasons we thought okay we’ve got to do this, we really got to roll this out,” Ramon said.

Cannabidiol or CBD oil is made from the stems, leaves, and roots of the cannabis plant but contains little or no amount of Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, the stuff that gets you high.

CBD has been making headlines because of claims to treat a variety of medical conditions; like anxiety, depression, chronic pain and PTSD.

The FDA does not back those claims.

“You’ll start feeling some relaxation in cases or some pain relief, backing up on the anxiety, so you’ll feel it a lot faster with the water,” Ramon said.

Doctors say more research needs to be done and that most claims of CBD oil benefits are anecdotal.

“It tastes just like water,” said Dorian Castro.

Dorian Castro says it’s recently helped relieve him of stress and anxiety.

“I reached over grabbed the water, drank it, immediately five minutes after i felt a total sense of relief,” Castro recounted.

The CBD market is expected to exceed $2 billion by 2020.

Ramon says keeping up with demand will be a good problem to have.

“We know there’s going to be a huge demand.,” Ramon said. “We’re already doing a couple of private labels outside of the state for the CBD.”
