Two charged with convenience store marijuana sales

Two owners of convenience stores were arrested Tuesday on charges related to selling marijuana at area convenience stores, a news release states.

Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force agents have been investigating stores in Georgia’s Walker, Catoosa, Dade and Chattooga counties selling marijuana packaged with misleading labels indicating the contents are “Legal in all Fifty States,” contained “CBD” oil and had been “Lab Tested,” according to the release.

Arrested were Risilkumar Patel, 26, of Rossville, Georgia, and Tanjot Bajwa, 41, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Patel was booked into the Chattooga County Jail and Bajwa into the Catoosa County Jail.

The task force is warning retailers, consumers and parents that similarly labeled products may contain marijuana and are illegal to purchase, possess or distribute.
