LEITRIM, Ireland – As part of their investigation into the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the region, Gardai in Co Leitrim have seized a huge haul of cannabis resin and cash.
Gardai said in a statement that officers in Carrick-on-Shannon had stopped and searched a car in the Townspark.
They found around 135,000 euros worth of Cannabis Resin inside the car.
Gardai said that the driver of the car, a 50-year-old man, who was the sole occupant of the car, had been arrested in connection with the seizure.
The man is being detained at the Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
Gardai revealed that they had conducted a follow-up search at a house in Manorhamilton, during which they seized a large amount of cash and more cannabis resin, which is valued at approximately 5,000 euros.
Officials noted that the seizures were made as part of an ongoing operation into the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the northern region, and in particular the Sligo/Leitrim division.
